Myles Ice Skating for the first time -watch the You Tube Video in the post below!

What a wonderful day! In the morning we just hung out, watched cartoons, and painted. Myles then played outside with Erik and they dug a snow tunnel. Myles then napped for 2.5 hours (which happens about twice a year!), and woke up in a great mood! We went out for Chinese food for dinner and then Myles and I went to the Ice Arena to give Ice Skating a try. Myles had zero fear! I could barely get his skates on fast enough and he was out on the ice like a flash! He grabbed one of the trainers to hold onto and he was off! We skated for about 40 minutes, and finally decided to head home. Tomorrow is Sunday School, and Myles will get to sing in church with all the little kids in class. It should be interesting!
Hope you are having as great of a weekend as we are!

Myles Ice Skating for the First Time

Myles is a YouTube Star!

Fireside Family Time

Last night was a great evening with the family. We decided to skip Movie night and had a family fire where we roasted hot dogs for supper and followed up with roasting marshmallows! Yum! Myles seemed to enjoy that! Holly was very interested in the fire and would stare at it for a long time. Our dog, Yoshi, joined the fun and warmed herself by the fire. I'm sure that we will end up doing more fires this winter as it was a big hit last night! The plan today is to play all day long, and then in the evening I'm going to attempt to take Myles for his first ice skating experience! I don't expect it to last very long. I'll try to take some pictures and hopefully post those as well.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Bath Night

It was bath night for both the kids, but Holly ended up taking hers about an hour before Myles. Why you ask? Well, while I was holding her and giving her a bottle, she pooped and it wasn't contained by her diaper... or her clothes. So I'm washing her clothes and my sweater! Nasty, huh?
Oh yeah, Holly also got to eat her first real food tonight! She attempted to eat some baby rice cereal - it went okay and she kinda got the hang of it. Much of it just mushed out of her mouth as she tried to chomp on it. I didn't take any pictures of that, but I'll try to remember sometime this week.

What an exciting Tuesday night in suburbia for the Johnson's! :)

Meds, Meds, and more Meds!

Well, all the little tykes are sick, but hopefully will be on the mend quickly. Both Holly and Myles have daily meds that they must take. Myles's doctor ended up putting him on a 10 day antibiotic to clear up his upper respiratory issue (he had infections in his ears, nose, and throat!). So hopefully he won't be coughing a 100 times a day. He still doesn't sleep very well. He crawled into bed with us last night and neither Erik or I noticed at first. That's how tired we were! But then he started tossing and turning and kicking us, and I had to put him back into his bed (which he wasn't to happy about). He kept trying to sneak into bed with us, and we finally settled on letting him sleep on the floor next to my side of the bed. That got us to 6:02 am.

Holly is on the mend as well, but takes her meds twice daily now. She is on an antibiotic and a steroid. She is also still coughing, but can breath - and Mommy is very happy about that! :) We are hopeful that they will be able to go to daycare tomorrow since they will have been on meds for 36+ hours by that point. But my goal today is to keep them relaxed and resting to allow their little bodies to build up more strength. I guess we'll call today a Movie, book, and coloring day!

Erik and I went to bed at 9:00 pm last night to try and get some extra sleep, and because we knew that we would be getting up with the kids in the middle of the night. Holly woke up for a bottle, and then we had Myles waking us up in our bed, so we were very grateful that we went to bed early. I think that is our plan for every night this week. Erik woke up this morning with a cold, so I'm wondering if he is getting sick. Well, if so, I'm going to send him to the doctor asap for meds.

So, our house is one full of viruses and medication! Lucky us! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we are on our way there!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Late night scare with Holly

Well, Erik and I are VERY tired today. We had quite the ordeal last night. But let me back up a bit. So Myles has been sick a bit lately. This weekend he kept spiking temps, but we have been able to get them down with some meds. However, last night (Sunday) Holly woke up at 9:30 pm coughing, crying, and barely able to breath. She looked totally scared, and she looked up at me with these desperate eyes that were bulging out. Probably one of the scariest moments I've had as a parent. So we called 911 and in about 4 minutes we had the police and ambulance at our door (I was impressed by how quickly they responded!). Holly had calmed down a bit by this point but was still struggling to breath. So Holly and I rode in the ambulance to the Hospital, and Erik came after my Sister zipped over to stay home with Myles (who slept through all of this!). We made it to the hospital, and after 2 nebulizer treatments and a shot of steroids, Holly was able to breath much better. We got back to our house at 2:15 am, and I decided that I was going to lay on the floor in Holly's room right by her crib. Erik then had to get up twice with Myles as he was coughing and calling out for someone. I had to jump into action twice with Holly as she began to cry and I didn't want her to get worked up and not be able to breath. Myles then decided to get up for the day at 5:30 am. Ugh. So needless to say Erik and I are operating on about 2 hours of interrupted sleep today. I kept the kids home today and have Myles going to the doctor this afternoon to try and figure out what is wrong. Erik is trying to get of work early, and will work a bit from home (and hopefully take a nap!). I sincerely hope that we never have to experience this kind of event again! Oddly enough, while in the ambulance, I thought about having the paramedic take our picture, but thought that would be in poor taste. Plus I was so focused on Holly that it was simply a fleeting thought and then I was back to praying that Holly would be okay - which she is. We are waiting on a culture to see if she has RSV or something else. She has about a week's worth of meds that she will have to take, but that is a small price for such a scary event! Please keep us all in your prayers.
Love,
Andrea
