Glasses

Today Grandma watched the kids, and she brought a cute little gift for Holly. Some fashionable glasses! Holly is totally obsessed with sun glasses and will repeat over and over "Glasses! Glasses!" until you give her some. So these are a great option for wearing glasses inside as they have clear plastic lenses. She looked so cute that I had to take a picture!

New Toy

Myles riding his bike game

Myles got this cute stationary bike that links up to the tv and plays different video games. I figured this was a good way to get some energy out in the winter months! He was so excited to try it!

Space Aliens Birthday Celebration!

Space Aliens - great place for a 5 year old boy!
Today the family got together to celebrate Myles's 5th birthday at Space Aliens. I didn't get a picture of the building, but pulled this off the web site. Didn't quite look like this, but you get the idea.

Here are the party people! Erik, Jeanne, Bob, Mom (Grandma), Aunt Erica, Uncle Patrick, Myles (and you can't see me or Holly, but we were there!)

Mom and Erica checking out the menu at Space Aliens. They had some funny names for some of the food. All space and alien themed, as you can imagine!

Holly had to have a snack before the food came, so I gave her a granola bar. She then ate 1/2 of her quesadilla, applesauce, apple juice, and 2 pieces of cake. Hope she doesn't get a tummy ache!

Myles picked out a Wall-e cake earlier this week, and they did a great job on it! Very tasty! Myles has liked Wall-e since the minute he saw the movie. And since there was no option for a star wars cake, this one was the next choice.

So after eating and playing games, we sang happy birthday to our big boy! He seemed so happy! Blew out his #5 candle in one breath. Myles managed to eat 2 small pieces of cake. So did Holly, Mommy, Grandma, Jeanne, and Bob. Erik and Erica had one. Patrick didn't want any cake. Weird, I know. We are certain that he isn't related to us.

Me with my 2 siblings - Patrick and Erica. We rarely get a picture of the 3 of us, so I took the opportunity!

Myles could hardly wait to open gifts. He was so happy and I heard him thank people several times. Makes me so proud when I don't have to prompt him to thank people. What a good boy!

Myles digging into another gift! This one is from Aunt Erica - a cool pirate beach towel with some splash balls to play in the pool with. He's gonna love it!

Here are 2 other cool toys that he opened up! The one on the left is from Jeanne and Bob - a star wars transformer. Can it get much cooler than that?! The toy on the right is from the Grandparents - 2 star wars speeders with guys on them. Hours of fun in this picture!

We got a cute picture of Myles and Uncle Patrick. They look like the same height in this picture! So did Myles grow, or is Patrick shrinking??? I hear that happens when you get old.

Wow - a real Alien! Well, if there really are aliens I guess it makes sense that they hang out at the Space Alien's restaurant. Myles was excited to get his picture with this guy. (Is it really a guy??? I guess it is hard to tell, and I didn't exactly ask....).

Space Aliens has a little game section for kids - kinda like Chucky Cheese, but a lot less annoying. Myles kept going back to this candy game. Basic concept - put in 2 coins and use the joy stick to move the mechanical grabber around before dropping it on the candy pile to grab about 5 pieces. You then move it to the drop spot. Amazing! I finally had to cut Myles off so that he didn't stuff his pockets with any more candy.

Myles wanted to ride in this space ship, but after putting in 2 coins it just sat there. Bummer. But he had fun hanging out in it.

Here is a super cute picture of Holly & Daddy. She was so good today at the restaurant.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL THE FUN AND GREAT GIFTS! I KNOW MYLES LOVES THEM!

Happy Birthday Myles!!!!!!!

My 5 year old birthday boy by all his gifts

Here are the gifts that he got!

Well, I now have a 5 year old! I can't believe it. It feels like the past 5 years have just flown by. I think today was a good birthday for Myles. Grandma watched the kids today, and they went to Grandma's house after the Library. Holly was excited to see Grandpa. They were good for them today. We got home and Erik had rented a move - The sword and the stone - and ordered pizza for dinner. I picked up some cupcakes for the birthday.

When I got home Myles was begging to open gifts. We figured we had better do that now since pizza was 30 + minutes away from arriving. So we got them upstairs and took some pictures. He then started to tear into them. He opened Holly's gift first - a star wars coloring book that you can wipe clean and color again. Cool! Then the 3 gifts from us were a paper airplane book that shows you how to make cool looking paper airplanes, star wars legos (see previouse posting!), and a stationary bike that links to a video game. I would say that he cleaned up on the gifts. He was excited with each one, but moved from one to the next super fast. All 4 gifts were opened in a matter of 2 minutes flat! Next came the movie and pizza, then cupcakes. Later, we all played in the basement while Myles admired the star wars lego ship that Erik is close to finishing.

Tomorrow - birthday celebration with the extended family at Space Aliens. I'll post on that later!

Happy Birthday Myles! We love you more than you know!
Love, Mom and Dad

Legos.....

One of the gifts we got for Myles was this million piece star wars lego ship. Erik has been working on putting it together for 4 days. Lucky him! This picture shows you the pile of bags that came out of the lego box.....

A gift from the Stahura's!

We got a surprise package in the mail this week. Erik's honorary Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Bill Stahura, sent the kids a package with some cool clothes! Holly got a cute skirt and t-shirt that will look so cute on her this summer, and Myles got an awesome Iron Man shirt! He wanted to put it on right away. So cute! Thanks you guys for thinking of us and the kids! We love you!

Flowers from Erik

My wonderful husband sent me flowers to work for Valentine's day. It was such a great surprise! I decided to bring them home so that I could admire them over the weekend. Thanks honey! You're the best and I love you!

Myles and Holly go to High School

On Friday morning Myles and Holly got to participate in a fun activity! They went to High school! No, they didn't grow up over night. Our 2 babysitters are in a psychology class that is studying child development and were asked to bring a kid to class to participate in some activities. So I dropped off my almost 5 year old and my 19 month old at Champlin High School on Friday morning. They got to first go to Choir class and then to Psych class. Myles said it was fun! They kids got a good kick out of hanging out with the babysitters at the big kid's school, and of course got some snacks. I didn't get any pictures because parents were asked not to attend if possible because kids act differently when parents are around. Bummer. Hopefully they can do this again next year!

Grandpa has a fan!

We went over to my parents on Super Bowl Sunday to hang out and watch the game. Holly seemed to take a shining to Grandpa, and wanted to sit on his lap. Erik snaped a quick pic and off she went!

My handsome husband!

Here is a picture of my Mr. Wonderful! Erik and I have been working hard at getting healthy (aka: loosing weight) for Mexico in April and my brother's wedding in May. What a Hottie!

I've got pig tails!

I love the fact that Holly's hair is long enough for 2 cute pig tails!

Holly shows interest....

Holly has asked Erik a few times to "Potty? Potty?" .... So we put the kid potty seat on and sat her down. Nothing really happened... but... could this be the start of potty training? I would be up for that!

Fun with Play-doh

Last night the kids and I played with Play-doh. It was a lot of fun! We made lots of shapes, and used play-doh cookie cutters to cut out shapes of things like turtles, bears, snowman, etc... We even squished the play-doh hair out the top of the play-doh man. Endless fun at the Johnson house on a Friday night!
