Our Mexico Adventure

Well, we are back! What a wonderful trip we had - full of fun and rest. I will try to recap the trip along with some of the pictures. First things first - No, we don't have the Swine Flu. :)

Highlights:

1. Warm weather - both a blessing and a curse because we love the warmth, but it takes us a little time to get used to it.
2. Took a sunset boat cruise and actually saw some Whales migrating! It was fantastic!
3. Did some bartering for Mexican trinkets -love that!
4. We played Tequila Volleyball in the pool - don't ask, don't tell
5. Great food - and we gained the weight to prove it!
6. Relaxed, napped, went to bed early.... awesome.

Low lights:

1. Took a water taxi out to Lover's beach, and the boat nearly capsized - bad undertow and it would have been very bad if we had gone overboard! Freaky!
2. Some drunk guy tried to get into our room one morning at 5:00 am - long story short we refused to open the door even when the hotel security and lobby tried to tell us that this was that guy's room.
3. Erik and I didn't feel top notch at times (no, not self inflicted).
4. Swine flu - don't have it, but saw people wearing masks at the airport - freaky!
5. Flight delay on the way home due to bad weather in TX, and instead of arriving in Mpls at 9:45 pm on Monday night, we got in at 2:20 AM - we are tired, to say the least.

Over all, we had a great trip in Cabo Mexico. I would recommend the Riu Santa Fe. Lovely hotel. Cabo is a bit windy, and we actually enjoy the Playa del Carmen area better (on the east coast), but still a great trip! Enjoy the pictures below!

Love,

Andrea & Erik

Our taxi driver made a pit stop at this convenience store so that we could get snacks and drinks as we headed to our hotel. In Mexico, passengers can drink beer while the driver is driving.... so we did!

Here is the interior pool at our resort - there was a total of 4 pools, one interior and three that overlooked the ocean. Awesome!

This is the stretch of beach by our hotel. We never laid out on these loungers because it was hot. Plus you really couldn't swim in the ocean at this area. So we spent out time at the pools.

Here is one of the swim up bars at a pool that we hung out at. It seemed to have a younger crowd here. I have never seen so many tattoos in my life!

This is me on Wednesday I believe. We went down to check out the sand and the people selling various Mexican trinkets/junk. I ended up buying a brown cowboy hat. I got a good deal!

Erik looking hot! This is the same day -Wednesday - and we were trying to get a bunch of pictures of the hotel, beach, etc....

Erik and I took a water taxi out to Lover's Beach. He gave us a little water tour and we saw fish, sea lions, boaters, people snorkeling, etc... It was totally awesome until.... he tried to get us in close to the beach to hop off. The under tow was super strong and it sucked the water back out before he was ready. The boat dropped and we hit the ground and tipped. We took on a ton of water. Both Erik and I almost went overboard. Not cool. But all is well.

So here is Erik helping to scoop the water out of the boat. Some other guy hopped on from a different boat with a water pump to suck out the water. But until then, Erik and the driver spent about 5 minutes bucketing water out.

Here is a picture of Lover's Beach. This is where the water taxi was taking us. It was beautiful!

On the other side of Lover's Beach is a different beach. It is called Divorced Beach. We checked it out. There was this great wave crashing up on the beach and it made for great pictures. We'll just ignore the name of the beach.

Me on the same rock. It was really pretty on this side of the beach!

Last picture of Lover's Beach. It was neat to hang out here and watch the boats. You can see the huge Cruise ship that was docked in the bay on this day. A regular occurrence but with a different boat each day.

On Saturday we went for a Sunset Cruise. A 3 hour tour. (yes, those jokes were told!) It was amazing! They started here in the bay of the Marina. This wasn't the ship, but I forgot to get a picture of it. It was much larger and awesome!

As our sunset tour started, we went past the famous Stone Arch. This is to the left of Lover's Beach. Great Pictures!

Here we are on the sunset cruise. We sat next to a really nice couple from Denver. The weather was perfect!

Yes... that is 2 drinks in my hand. But the more shocking fact is the one in my right hand is a margarita. Yuck. I got it down to the last 1/4 and gave it to Erik. I don't like Tequila.

The BEST part of the cruise was seeing a mommy and baby whale. This is the very end of the whale migration season, so we didn't think we would see any. It was AMAZING! I tried to get pictures, but they didn't really turn out. The tiny dark spot in the middle of the water is the whale (hump back whale).

There was another cruise going on for this group on the pirate boat. It looked fun!

Here is a self portrait of us. It was windy, as you can see from my hair whipping all around!

This is one of a million amazing sunset pictures from the boat. Fantastic!

After the cruise, we went into town and had chips and salsa (along with beer!) at this popular bar. We were there to early for it to be hopping with people (we left at 9:30 pm), but it was still fun! We hung there with the couple from Denver.

I got talked into learning how to Salsa dance. I have learned that I am NOT talented when it comes to dancing. I was the worst one out there. But it was funny!

Hard to see the faces, but on our last day (Sunday) we hung out with this interesting couple at the hotel. They are from Missouri. We ended up playing Tequila Volleyball in the water, and then water polo. It was fun, but tiring.

On Thursday night, Erik had booked us to eat at one of the hotel's restaurants. The only one open was the Mexican one. We didn't mind! So we both got these great fajitas - mine was all beef, and Erik had beef, chicken, and shrimp. It was very good!

We then had these guys come over and play music for us. They said they would play something romantic! It was nice, but I forgot that they play for tips. Oh well - good thing the hubby had some money!

Me ordering a drink at the bar - at this point I think I was into drinking something called a Blue Ocean. Or was it the Corona's..... I'm not sure.

This picture is for you Billy! Doesn't Erik look so cool?

Okay - here is the last one. I thought I would end on a cute one of us!
