Johnson Trip to the Zoo!

So we headed to the Como Zoo on Saturday before lunch. The day started out beautiful and quickly rose into the high 80's. We packed a lunch. We arrived at the zoo only to find that everyone else in Mn. Had the same idea that we had. Parking was survival of the fittest. Luckily I was up to the challenge and ran into a colleague from work that was leaving and he was able to walk slowly until we got back to where they were. With a home for our car secured, we were off to enjoy the zoo! The animals were extremely active, considering the weather. The polar bears were playing with balls and diving into the water (very cool!) and the lions were roaring at each other. All of the Giraffes were out and Myles got a kick out of the seals. Snow Cones were had and then it was time to leave. The next day we went down to Andrea's cousin's for a graduation party (Rob congrats on graduating from law school!) I got a ton of yard work done (I even used the chainsaw. Always good times). We hit costco and REI, two of my favorite places. I think by sunday evening, Myles was a little overstimulated, but he did have fun playing with his cousins. So with the end of another busy week, I start week number two of my new job. It is going well but there is so much to learn. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed but that is how it is when you start something new. As for Andrea, she is doing well. She is ready to be done but looks great and has a great attitude. Take care and enjoy your week!

The Blaine Garage Sales

It's that time of year again folks and while many will think we are crazy the Bietz clan gathered at the Bietz homestead for the annual neighborhood mega garage sale. Andrea took three days of work to help set up and do some shopping of her own. Patrick and I drank beer and people watched and collected the occasional dollar (or quarter) while Myles Demo'd every toy ken was Selling. Laurie chased Myles around and the two of them had a blast. The weather was the best in atleast 3 years (75 and partly cloudy). The turnout was amazing. There were people everywhere and I think Ken easily sold over half his "inventory" as well as all the furniture he had restored. This truly is commerce at it's finest (and most interesting!).
